NVIDIA has officially refuted recent rumors suggesting the discontinuation of its Verified Priority Access (VPA) program, confirming that the initiative remains active and continues to facilitate the purchase of GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. The VPA program, initially introduced to combat scalping and ensure genuine customers have direct access to NVIDIA’s high-demand graphics cards, has been reinstated for the latest RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition models.
The VPA program allows a select group of verified U.S. customers to purchase these GPUs directly from NVIDIA at the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP). To be eligible, users must have created an NVIDIA account before January 30, 2025, and express their interest by completing a registration form on NVIDIA’s official website. Selected participants receive email invitations, granting them the opportunity to buy the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics cards at their respective MSRPs of $1,999 and $999, effectively bypassing third-party markups and scalper-induced price inflation.
This initiative is currently exclusive to customers in the United States and applies solely to the Founders Edition models of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. NVIDIA has not announced plans to extend the VPA program to other regions or include other models, such as the RTX 5070 Ti, at this time.
By maintaining the VPA program, NVIDIA aims to ensure that its loyal customer base has fair access to its latest products without the interference of scalpers. This approach not only benefits consumers but also serves as a strategic move for NVIDIA, allowing the company to sell its Founders Edition graphics cards directly to gamers, thereby retaining profits that would otherwise be shared with add-in-board partners.
The VPA program’s reinstatement underscores NVIDIA’s commitment to addressing supply challenges and providing genuine customers with equitable opportunities to acquire its latest GPU offerings. Customers interested in participating are encouraged to verify their eligibility and submit their interest through NVIDIA’s official channels.
