Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new Sky Blue color option for its upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, potentially replacing the Desert Titanium variant introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro. According to supply chain leaks shared by leaker Majin Bu, several prototypes in various colors have been developed, with Sky Blue emerging as the frontrunner.
The Sky Blue hue is said to be similar to the color introduced with the M4 MacBook Air in March 2025. Apple describes this shade as a “beautiful, metallic light blue that creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off of its surface.” This marks a departure from the more muted tones traditionally offered in the Pro lineup, such as Natural Titanium, White Titanium, Black Titanium, and the recently introduced Desert Titanium.
Majin Bu notes that the Sky Blue finish appears “more stunning” than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible. The leaker also mentions that Apple is testing other color options, including dark purple and green, but Sky Blue is currently the frontrunner.
The introduction of Sky Blue would align with Apple’s recent trend of offering a standout color each year for its Pro models. In 2024, the company launched the iPhone 16 Pro in Desert Titanium, following previous special editions like Sierra Blue and Deep Purple. By bringing Sky Blue to the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple could be aiming to refresh its color palette and appeal to consumers seeking a more vibrant and modern aesthetic.
It’s worth noting that while Majin Bu has a mixed track record with leaks, he has accurately predicted iPhone colors in the past. However, as with all rumors, it’s advisable to take this information with a grain of salt until official confirmation from Apple.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled in September 2025, following Apple’s typical release schedule. In addition to the new color option, the devices are rumored to feature significant design changes, including a possible new unified button replacing the volume and Action buttons, and a redesigned camera bump.
