Blizzard to Reveal Diablo IV Season 8: “Belial’s Return” on April 24

Blizzard Entertainment is set to unveil the details of Diablo IV’s upcoming Season 8, titled “Belial’s Return,” during a Developer Update Livestream scheduled for April 24 at 11:00 AM PDT. This livestream will provide players with an in-depth look at the new season’s content, including a fresh questline, seasonal powers, and significant gameplay updates.

Season 8: Belial’s Return

Season 8 is slated to launch on April 29, 2025, bringing substantial changes to Diablo IV’s gameplay. The season introduces a new questline centered around Belial, the Lord of Lies, offering players a challenging narrative experience. Additionally, the season will feature revamped endgame boss encounters, allowing players to earn and utilize boss powers, thereby enhancing their characters’ abilities.

Developer Update Livestream

The upcoming livestream will be hosted on Diablo’s official Twitch, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok channels. Following the main presentation, a new segment called “Sanctuary Sitdown” will feature community host Lurkin and Blizzard’s Charles Dunn discussing Season 8 and addressing questions from the community via the Sanctuary Discord.

Gameplay Enhancements and Boss Powers

Season 8 introduces the “Boss Powers” mechanic, allowing players to absorb the essence of defeated bosses and utilize their abilities. There are 24 Boss Powers available, each comprising a Main Power and Modifier Powers, enabling players to customize their builds further. These powers are obtained by defeating formidable bosses, including Belial, Lilith, Andariel, and Duriel.

Revamped Boss Ladder System

The season also brings a comprehensive overhaul to the boss ladder system. Endgame bosses will now be free to summon, with loot primarily obtained from Hoard chests requiring Lair Keys to unlock. This change aims to streamline boss encounters and reward systems, enhancing the endgame experience.

Future Roadmap

Looking ahead, Blizzard has outlined a roadmap for Diablo IV, detailing plans for the next six months leading up to the game’s second expansion in 2026. The roadmap includes upcoming seasons titled “Sins of the Horadrim” and “Infernal Chaos,” each introducing new content and features to the game.

Players interested in the latest developments can tune into the livestream on April 24 to learn more about what Season 8 has in store.
